Project that purifies 4.1 litres of water every second and promotes biodiversity
A number of water ponds are located in Explore Arlandastad's surroundings. They are the result of ongoing work to purify the water, which is based on the company's specialist expertise in soil and water management.
”Clean drinking water and water in sufficient quantities are central to giving people good health and are now seen as a food in Sweden. During the year, we treated 129,000 cubic metres of water via our ponds, which corresponds to the daily consumption of drinking water for 1 million people. The dams also help to protect the surroundings and buildings from damage during heavy rainfall," says Project Manager Jakob Ahlqvist
By collecting and purifying water in different stages, from property land to streets and ponds, a system is created where the water is delayed and purified before it reaches the final recipient, which in many cases is our common water sources. The dams play an important role in the final stage of removing substances such as nitrogen, phosphorus, metals and particulate pollutants. Over time, the ponds are established with local plants that create an environment that benefits biodiversity.
”"We think in the long-term, it's about both following regulations to protect our water during land development and taking responsibility for our planet. As a result, beautiful areas are also created that make more people want to establish themselves here," concludes Jakob.
